Urgent Update for KMRA Residents: Sinkhole Incident Unfolds Near Flats

In a concerning incident just a mere 100 meters from our flats, a significant sinkhole opened up behind a row of houses in south-east London, prompting evacuations and emergency response.

Measuring an alarming 10 meters by three meters across and descending seven meters deep, the sinkhole appeared behind St Mary Street, Woolwich, on Tuesday evening. The cause is believed to be linked to flooding from a burst water main, prompting swift action from the London Fire Brigade, who arrived at the scene around 9.30pm.

Firefighters acted swiftly, evacuating 11 individuals from three properties, ensuring everyone's safety. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries, but precautionary measures were taken with a 25-meter cordon established around the area.

To ensure public safety, St Mary Street was temporarily closed between the junctions of Sunbury Street and Kingsman Street as emergency crews diligently worked to secure the scene.
